PIH and Zanmi Lasante, their sister organization in Haiti, have been steadily bolstering up an educational program for children living with HIV/AIDS.
PIH launched their own school, Ecole Bon Sauveur, many years ago in Cange, where the main hospital campus is located. Additionally, for children who live in the catchment area of our other clinical sites - Boucan Carré, Hinche, Thomonde, Belladère, Lascahobas, and Cerca-la-Source - PIH supports the annual cost of thousands of impoverished children to attending nearby schools.
They also offer a school lunch program for over 9,000 students, which provides children with a high-protein, low-cost, nutritious meal - perhaps the only one they will receive that day.
Their Adult Literacy Initiative supports and improves literacy training for almost 3,000 adults through a network of literacy centers in Haiti's Central Plateau.
