AIDS WEST is a voluntary organisation that offers an information help line, education / prevention services and support to people affected by HIV in Ireland. Specifically in the counties of Galway, Mayo and Roscommon.

Services are completely confidential. Aids West was formed in 1987 as Cairde with the aim of providing support to people with HIV/AIDS. Later it also took on the aims of providing education/prevention services and to lobby for service development.

At that time there was little government or regional policy on HIV/AIDS and the organisation survived on the goodwill of a number of dedicated volunteers concerned about the situation.
