CHAI - India

Few countries in the world face as severe an HIV crisis as the country of India. CHAI has been closely partnered with the government of India since 2004, working to address the scale up of care and treatment, with a specific focus on children living with HIV/AIDS.

Some of the activities undertaken include holding initiation camps in 16 states to confirm children’s HIV status through proper testing and linking HIV-positive children with proper care and treatment services; creating critical infrastructure to enable early infant diagnosis; and enabling the use of the most efficacious pediatric antiretroviral medications by making the commodities available and training healthcare workers in their use.
