CHAI - Zimbabwe

CHAI is working with partners to improve care and treatment for children living with HIV/AIDS across Zimbabwe. Some of the activities have included helping to revise national pediatric treatment guidelines; training of healthcare workers in HIV rapid testing and infant diagnosis; improving access to key commodities by supporting clearing fees and quality control testing; enabling availability of gold-standard pediatric ARVs; supporting salaries of two laboratory technicians to strengthen early infant diagnosis capacity at the National Reference Laboratory; supporting salaries of eight staff at the AIDS & TB Unit and eighty Primary Counselors at the pediatric ART sites; developing a plan in collaboration with UNICEF to provide ready-to-use therapeutic food to pediatric ART sites and train healthcare workers in treatment of malnutrition.
