CHAI - Zambia

The government of Zambia has shown great leadership in the fight against HIV/AIDS, dramatically ramping up their efforts to fight and treat the pandemic in the past several years, working with partners and donors to scale up access to antiretroviral medications for both adults and children.

CHAI and the government of Zambia have launched programmatic efforts to increase and improve pediatric care and treatment, and recent key efforts have included making fixed-dose combination ARVs, the best available pediatric treatment, available for use across Zambia; increasing access to early infant diagnosis; organizing trainings-of-trainer sessions in pediatric ART to enable improved healthcare worker training; distribution of dosing wheels, a CHAI-developed resource to help clinicians accurately prescribe pediatric antiretroviral medications; and strengthening collaboration among key players.
