CHAI - Rwanda
In the aftermath of the civil war that decimated its population and displaced millions of people, the government of Rwanda has been working with partners to rebuild. Rwanda ’s efforts to build a comprehensive healthcare system have been particularly impressive, including the roll out of efforts to reach children living with HIV/AIDS.
CHAI has been partnering with the government of Rwanda on this effort since 2002, and in the past year has dramatically increased its efforts to provide care and treatment to children. To make this possible, CHAI has helped draft a national pediatric treatment plan; piloted an early infant diagnosis program; trained healthcare workers in pediatric care and treatment; and rolled out a pilot program for ready-to-use therapeutic food to treat malnourished children.
