CHAI - Lesotho
The tiny, mountainous country of Lesotho faces one of the highest HIV/AIDS burdens in Africa , with an estimated prevalence of over 24%. CHAI and the Government of Lesotho have been close partners in the fight to address this, and together have intensely focused on scaling up access to care and treatment for children living with HIV/AIDS.
CHAI and Lesotho’s Ministry of Health and Social Welfare have undertaken a range of dynamic activities, including revising national treatment and testing protocols; helping ensure that the most efficacious pediatric medicines and technologies are free to all children; conducting testing events targeted at youth; and conducting trainings for healthcare workers to ensure that children living with HIV/AIDS in Lesotho are able to receive the same standard of care afforded to children living in the developed world.
