CHAI - Kenya

The Kenyan government has shown tremendous leadership in the fight against HIV/AIDS, providing nearly universal treatment to its infected citizens and serving as one of the very few countries in Southern Africa to report a decline in the number of reported cases over the past several years.

The government of Kenya and CHAI are helping link HIV-positive children with the care and treatment services they need to survive. CHAI has made great strides, launching the National Pediatric Rapid Response Initiative to identify and enroll children in care and treatment; greatly increase the number of sites accessing early infant diagnosis technologies; increasing testing and treatment availability awareness by rolling out a pediatric media campaign and producing 100,000 health posters; adding critical CD4 machines to improve pediatric patient monitoring; and creating a country-specific dosing wheel.
