CHAI - Ethiopia

The Ethiopian government has one of the most ambitious, visionary plans to fight HIV/AIDS in all of the countries with which CHAI partners. A key element of this plan involves making the best quality care and treatment available to as many HIV-positive children as possible.

Some of our recent activities have included overhauling the national protocols to include the best available pediatric ARV options; constructing a new clinic in one of Addis Ababa’s major hospitals to treat additional HIV-positive children and serve as a center of excellence to train healthcare workers in pediatric HIV care; launching a pediatric mentoring program to support nurses and doctors at a number of major hospitals, local health centers, community organizations, and orphanages; and continuing to work with partners to build a comprehensive program to treat all malnourished children in Ethiopia.
